time : memory : place

Portrait photography by Martin King

13 April - 11 May 2024, APW Gallery

APW Gallery is delighted to launch a new suite of original prints by celebrated mixed-cultural First Nations artist Lisa Waup, created during her APW Dowd Foundation Fellowship in collaboration with APW printers.

Debuting a new series of prints through both the intaglio and lithographic mediums, Lisa explores the notions of searching and finding hidden history in the exhibition time : memory : place. She worked with Martin King and Simon White, and Miriam Penrose and Jeremy Grigg the APW  inaugural APW “Apprentice” Printer Program trainees for 2024.

“The number three appears many times in my life and art, here I have created three little bags together forever. Forever they are connected through the cycle of birth, life and death. Together, they represent the mind, body and soul connection. They are held together and yet have their own character, their own space and their own identity. This design is everything that is important, it is home, it is place.”
